Umpire courses

Following the formation of the Southern League (SL) in 1969, a general inquiry in 1970 initiated by Noel Fisher showed a widespread interest among clubs tired of the surfeit of draws in ‘friendly’ cricket and looking for a competitive edge with rewards, in the form of promotion, for success.

NOTE Change of date 28th March not 29th March.

Any Hampshire Cricket League Club that have umpires or budding umpires in the Club that want to enrol on a Stage 1 Umpire Course please use the link for either date and register. Also give their names to The Chairman Denis Emery (at [email protected]). The cost is £30 which will be reimbursed fully by The Hampshire Cricket League.

HACO will also pay the first year’s Membership in full, when they receive the course payment.

The Hampshire Association of Cricket Officials (HACO) will be running a couple of training courses for both umpires and scorers prior to the start of the new season.

The Course is designed to give an overview of the basic laws of the game and how to apply them.  It introduces the principles of fieldcraft and match management.  All Umpires (including those at Test match level) start with this course.

Courses last one full day and will cost £30.

The first Umpire course will run at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday 15 March.

A second course will run at Old Basing Cricket Club on Saturday 28th March.

Anyone interested in attending this or any other course should book a place using the following links.

Ageas Bowl 15 March

The HCL will also do something similar for Scorers when the dates of their courses are known.
